Like and unlike.

A cat looking at a window

We are like the moon

in so many ways and yet unlike him.

Look at how gracefully

he lets the dark envelope him in bits

with an infallible plan to deceive the rest

of its actual form.

Tell me it doesn't remind you

of the day you knew you had to let go

of your childhood house but

still just smiled away.

Observe how instead of being carved

with an even finish ,he is engulfed

in a medley of craters.

Each one linked to something of the past.

Look me in the eye and say

that it doesn't draw your mind to how

you are every story you've lived.

Gaze at how his embodiment fails to

abide by the laws of impeccableness.

How he is not all white

but a little of fawn.

And tell me this doesn't take you back

to the time you were told that

your skin isn't the desirable colour.

But there are ways in which we are unlike him.

He wears his flaws

like a cherry on top.

He might be illuminated partially

but he is never incomplete.

Come on, tell me, is this too difficult to achieve?

He owes his luminescence to someone.

We dont.

Neither you,

Nor me.

And nobody has the power to take it away.

Not you.

Not me.

Do you believe me?

Read it.

Read it again.

Read it till you believe it.

See, I told you, we are like the moon in so many ways and yet unlike him.
